Sabbath Mood homeschool is a true Charlotte Mason science curriculum. It’s full of glorious living books, nature study and nature lore. The curriculum
is broken into 3 terms for the year. Each term is studied by subject. Elementary science doesn’t start till 4th grade. Before 4th grade nature study is encouraged and no formal science taught.
My family has used Sabbath Mood Homeschooling for several terms. We’ve done astronomy, chemistry, and weather in grades 7-9 and chemistry and physics for high school and we have loved everything we have done. I feel like what we have learned with Sabbath Mood has been retained and is still talked about. Science became enjoyable (I am not a science person normally but I found myself enjoying these lessons and the books along with my kids)
If you are looking for a Charlotte Mason science - this is it!!! And if you are looking for something other than a dry textbook again - this is it!!!

Apologia Science - let me count the ways I love you! I must confess I really, really do not like science, however Apologia makes doing science so simple and easy. Apologia is your standard text book Christian science curriculum. Apologia is also written so well. I never have felt like the reading was over my children's age level. I've used everything from the elementary through high school - literally Flying Creatures, Swimming Creatures, Land Creatures, Botany, Astronomy, Physical Science, Chemistry, Biology: we've done them all!
A few of my favorite things with Apologia are the student workbooks that go along with the curriculum - it's like a giant check box that at the end of the year you have to show for all the work you have done in science (which again isn't my favorite subject, I need the positive reinforcement LOL) They also have DVD's that you can use to watch all the experiments if you don't want to do them at home.
The way my family has used Apologia has been to lump all the elementary kids together and work through one elementary science curriculum. There is no right order with the elementary curriculum so keep it simple and put them all together for learning. When we did Swimming Creatures we bough aquarium passes and visited the aquarium and beach often. When we went through the land animals we purchased zoo season passes and again visited often. Botany meant we visited the wildflower center all the time - you get the idea. Science really isn't that bad when it's broken into subject matter - still not my favorite subject but Apologia makes it so much better!!!
In jr. high and high school my kids have done most of the reading themselves and then we step in with the experiments and questions as things don’t make sense. My daughter has also taken and passed several CLEP science tests. We just reviewed the secular views on a few topics so she was aware of what would be on the test and she passed.
Apologia is a great science curriculum for the homeschool mom. Easy to use, fun for the family, and has a solid foundation in the Word of God.
