Analytical Grammar is a very different approach to grammar and one of the best I’ve seen. The concept of Analytical Grammar is simply that nothing changes from year to year within Grammar, it’s the same 12 rules. What does change is the length and complexity of a sentence.
Analytical Grammar recommends not teaching any grammar outside basic capitalization rules, punctuation rules, and the simple basics of what makes a sentence a sentence. The concepts of further grammar are too abstract and in elementary years a child simply can’t grasp it. They have 2 courses a middle school course and a high school course. Both can be purchased with DVD instruction videos, a teachers guide, and the student workbook. I've used more grammar programs than I would care to confess and I can tell you this is the first program that has stuck. My children actually retained and remembered what they learned and amazingly I’m seeing it reflected in their writing too! I will ONLY use Analytical Grammar for all the rest of my homeschooling days because I love it that much! Click here to learn more about Analytical Grammar. |
